Gerhild Werner
Gerhild Werner studied Slavic languages and German language in Marburg and pedagogics of art and liberal art in Kassel, where she has been living and working since 1989. Her work is focused on experimental an conceptual art, installations, drawing, photography, mixed media. Gorillas were her theme in 2002 when she designed an installation about them.
During the contemporary art event Documenta11 in Kassel, Germany, Gerhild Werner presented a small exhibition called "gorilla handy" (gorilla mobile phone), a multimedia installation on the problem of the bushmeat trade and the coltan industry. "gorilla handy" was shown by the art project "TRA.FO 2002" in a preserved monument, an old transformer building in the center of Kassel.
